Week 2: Transmediality

Students will be able to write a transmedial diary in order to make reflections about the relationship they have with their social media.

TRANSMEDIALITY: Transmediality is a concept that refers to the construction of narratives interlinked through multiple media in which stories continue in other media to create new ones and fill blank spots that often can not be solved in one story.

Step #1: You will research about your identity through social media in a conscious way. First, you will publish something about your day every two hours, in different your social media. This will be done during one day.

Step #2: Later, you will compare what you create (a diary) with others already existent in literature.

Step #3: After doing this, you will choose a character from a classical story and, following the same intention of publishing part of their lives through social media, you will do it again like if they were that character becoming your daily activities in activities of this character.

Step #4: You will create a multimodal image answering the following questions:

  • Which is the difference between you and that character?

  • How would that character, if internet existed in that time (or in that story), say what you published every day?

  • How is technology influencing classical stories?

Step #5: Upload the image on a social media and share it with your class.
